The picture (above right) shows
Jack Hainsworth
in 2007 receiving his u-15 all-rounder award from Team Manager Simon Howell.
Since that day the young cricketer has advanced through the under-17 ranks
into the Oakworth First XI and on to many new triumphs.
He has now settled into the First XI so well
that consecutive 50s against Cononley and Cullingworth paled into the
background with his magnificent 141 v Bradley
on Saturday 8th May 2010. At the time
Jack or 'H' to his friends was 18 years and 5 months old and as such is
Oakworth's youngest ever Centurion.
Amazingly it has come in only his 27th league
appearance for the team and in his 23rd league innings (30th appearance and
26th innings of all matches).
Jack's first senior half-century came
less than a year ago, 68 v Cowling in a Wynn Cup tie on 8th August.
The previous record holder
Michael Scarborough
scored 105 in a Keighley Cup match against Keighley Tech on 17th June 1990,
before Jack was born! Michael was then aged 19 years and 4 months. Indeed
Michael's first Century in a league match didn't come until the ripe old age
of 22 years and 7 months in 1993 v Long Lee.
The previous youngest in a league match
came from club President Wilfrid
Scarborough 46 years ago on 18th July
1964 102 v Ingrow at age 21 years and 10 months.
There are numerous examples of three
half-centuries in a row, the last being in 2004 when
Jon Crossley
scored three consecutive half-centuries in 7 days; 13th June 159 v Ingrow (K
Cup); 19th June 97 v Embsay (CDCL) and 20th June 78 v Cullingworth (Wynn
Cup).
So well done to Jack on a fabulous
achievement, the hard act now is to continue to progress. Its not a
destination merely a stopping point! |
