Half-centuries for Jack
Hainsworth, Drew Duffy and
Michael Scarborough were the core
elements of a daunting 246-6 for opponents Cononley. Only Tom Stead
from the South Craven side could make any headway and he scored 40 of
their disappointing 94 all out. New boy and former Cononley player
Steve Filkin led our bowlers with 4
wickets and leggie Jack Davison picked up
3-11 in an impressive First XI bowling debut.
Second XI
Top bowling from Ian Jackson
was superbly supported by Lewis Wrathall
and Greig Hudson and the Eldwick &
Gilstead top order was blown away and at 42-6 Oaks lls looked to be
cruising. The worry was a littany of dropped catches and no 8
keeper-batsman Danny Hook took full advantage rattling up 85 in 20
overs. The final 192-9 score proved a challenge too high for our
brittle batting and a very disappointing 74 all out was a far cry from
the near miss against Airedale. Only three of the top order made
double figures, Lewis, Greig and jet-lagged skipper
Simon Howell.
Third XI
Skipper Alan Fothergill led
from the front with a half-century in a satisfactory 141 all out. He had
great support from brother Graham and chips-in
from many of the younger team members. The bowling department was on song
and Gargrave lls managed just 94 when the 10th wicket fell. New 'boy'
John Sharples claimed 3 wickets in his new
'career' whilst Sam Nettleton and
Jack Keighley each had a brace.
