Michael Davison - 200 League appearances for the Second XI

Club Secretary Michael Davison has now joined the Second XI 200 club. His final appearance of 2007 on 8th September in Lancashire against Barrowford lls was his 200th Craven & District League appearance for Oaks Second Team. Additionally Mike has 35 Cup-ties to his credit. He made his debut way back on 28th July 1990, fully 17 years previously at home to Pendle Forest lls, scoring a useful 21 before being bowled by Tim Stanley.

His 200 tally is only headed by four other players; Stevie Powell 256, Dave Brunskill 253, Tom Shields 236 and Garry Searby 218. Michael's playing contribution of course goes way beyond that with 70 appearances for the First XI and another 9 for the Third XI, a magnificent 279 CDL appearance total.

For the Second XI Michael's double century turn out has enabled 136 innings with a whopping 57 red-inks to his name. Not renowned as a batsmen he has 591 runs at 7.48 and a best of 26 at Cullingworth in 2002.

His bowling though has been of enormous value, his slow right-armers frequently causing consternation amongst the best Division Three batsmen. He has winkled out 95 of them at just under 16 apiece, his strike rate a tidy 26 with excellent 62 economy for a slow bowler. His best performance is a match winning 7-18 off 16 overs away at Gargrave First XI in 2004, also his best year with 18 wickets at just over 11.

Michael has four five-fors to his name including one in the Cowling Cup.
